Friday 25th September 2010, Auteuil (www.jourdegalop.com) Bel la Vie (Lavirco) won the €130,000 Prix de Maisons-Laffitte Hurdle (Gr3 – 4yos – 3600m) on his return to the track after a break but he had to pull out all the stops in order to achieve the success. Thanks to a last minute burst of speed he managed to catch the surprising Kinglaska (Kingsalsa) by a nose on the line in this Group 3 which serves as a prep race for the Prix Renaud du Vivier (Gr1). Prince Oui Oui (Poliglote) who runs in the same colours as Bel La Vie, those of the Papot family, ran well to finish a further half a length behind in third place.
Nikita du Berlais (Poliglote) was very impressive when winning the €80,000 Prix de Chambly Hurdle (L -3yo Fillies -3600m). Robert Collet’s charge impressed the spectators at Auteuil with her class when beating the Guy Cherel trained Protektion (Protektor), who was having her first run back after a break, by a breathtaking 10 lengths. Another horse making her return to the track was Salsa Melody (Kingsalsa), also trained by Guy Cherel, put up a strong performance to finish fourth.
Bred by Jean-Marc Lucas, Nikita du Berlais is the third foal out of Chica du Berlais (Cadoudal), who was trained by Jean-Paul Gallorini, who only ran once over jumps when finishing fifth at Auteuil. She is the dam of five foals including Bonita du Berlais (King’s Theatre), who was a top 3 year old filly and won the Prix Georges Pelat et de Chambly (L) and finished fourth in the Prix Georges de Talhouët-Roy (Gr2).

The €48,000 Prix Grandlieu Hurdle (5yos – 3900m) was won by Rhialco (Dom Alco) in the hands of Christophe Pieux. The horse was almost sold on a previous occasion but failed to pass the vet. Rhialco was making his return after an absence since his unsuccessful attempt in the Prix Maurice Gillois (Gr1). He passed the post six lengths ahead of his nearest rival Tyko (Robin des Champs).
Bred by Michel Contignon and Nelly Guelmi, Rhialco is a brother of the talented Qhilimar (Ragmar), winner of the Prix Rivoli over the fences at Auteuil early on in the season.
