Wednesday 5th May 2010, Enghien. (www.paristurf.com) Magalen Bryant’s filly Droit d'Aimer (Sassanian) opened proceedings at a nearly empty Enghien, when winning the €46,000 Prix Nivolet Hurdle (3yo Fillies-3,300m), under David Cottin. Already a two time winner from her two career starts, both over hurdles, at Lyon-Parilly and then here at Enghien, she succeeded once more here by accelerating after the last hurdle leaving her rivals in her wake. Her trainer, Nicolas Bertran de Balanda, explained afterwards: "For the moment she is irreproachable, three wins from three runs. Now I will aim her at Auteuil, passing by the Prix d'Iéna, before running in the Prix Sagan, a Listed on the 24th June." The Robert Collet representative Rose Rosse (Corri Piano), finished second 8 lengths behind the winner and half a length in front of Mercelina (Sleeping Car). Quite a few runners were affected by the fall of Fadéla (Great Pretender) at the hurdle on the last bend.

Droit d’Aimer is out of Mago Less, a winner on the flat, and is for the moment her best product. She also has a yearling colt by Le Fou, named Less Le Fou.

Revenge - Pistolet Jack back in form

The 6 year old Pistol Jack (Maille Pistol) was successful once more in the €50,000 Prix Revenge Chase (5yo+ - 3,500m). The often unlucky Oh Calin finished strongly 8 lengths behind the winner in second place, half a length in front of Ryes (SF-Rifapour). Runner up behind Alarm Call this winter, before taking a break, Pistol Jack came back in style with this victory. Winning trainer Philippe Peltier said afterwards:

“He is a horse with a lot of character. He won very well and I will run him once at Auteuil, where he has a favourable entry. After that I will keep him for this autumn at Enghien, hopefully the ground won’t be too heavy."

Avignon - No concerns for Oeil du Maitre

A previous winner of the Grande Course de Haies d'Auteuil (Gr.I), Oeil du Maître (Robin des Champs) signed the fifth success of his career in the €46,000 Prix d'Avignon Hurdle(5yo+ - 3,800 m). The winner has had some problems in his career and after his win in the Grande Course de Haies in June 2008; he was unseen on the track until January this year at Cagnes-sur-Mer when he finished a decent third. His next appearance was at Auteuil on the 21st of April when he was pulled up on the far side for an unknown reason. Obviously the problem wasn’t too serious as here only twelve days later he beat the talented Mildon (Milford Track) and Triangular (Diesis), second and third respectively.

Oeil du Maitre is out of Stephanotis (Saint Estephe), a winner on the flat, who also currently has a four year old half brother to the winner named Satellite (Alberto Giacometti).
