Friday 30th April 2010, Auteuil. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com) The result of the €60,000 Prix Go Ahead Hurdle (4yo Males-3,000m) was identical to that of the Prix Champaubert, run on April 7th. Grand Charly (Le Triton) once more dominated Sam Winner (Okawango) and Twinlight (Muhtathir), with Tout Rouge (AQPS-Dom Alco) back in fourth. “He beat the same horses as the last time”, confided Thierry Civel. “He is very brave and did it easily today. At the moment we have no choice; he will have to step up in class.” Grand Charly was achieving the third success of his career; Thierry Civel bought him for € 27,711. Trainer of Sam Winner and Twinlight, Guy Cherel said: “There is nothing to say, we were beaten by a better horse. They will be better over longer distances, but that could also be the case for the winner too.”
Loreto – No luck once again for Queen des Places

The hot favourite of the €50,000 Prix Loreto Chase (5yo+ -3,700m), Queen des Places (Sabrehill) was once again between by a Sénéchal representative. This time it was Quarisandre (AC - Sleeping Car) who beat François Nicolle’s charge. “I have two choices: change racecourse, as she has maybe had enough of Auteuil, or to put blinkers on her. The mare was 100% physically so she has no excuses on that front”, explained Queen des Places trainer. François Cottin, for his part, said “I would have been delighted with second place so I’m over the moon to have won! The horse was in great form and he jumps very well” Quarisandre had until this win, never run in a chase at Auteuil. His dam, Eurisandre (Synefos), is a daughter of the talented cross country mare Gérisandre (Monceaux), notably the winner of the Grand Cross de Dieppe in 1983.
Pansa – L’Astina back on track
Not seen on the track since November 2008, L'Astina (Astarabad) came back with a bang in the €46,000 Prix Pansa Hurdle (5yo+ - Females-3,500m). In a fast pace race, François Belmont’s charge accelerated impressively to dominate Maharina (Medaaly) and Antarès du Berlais (Lost World), only separated by a nose. “The mare is obviously not at 100%”, explained François Belmont, “and she blew a lot after the race. She suffered from tendonitis and as we liked her a lot as a 3 year old we decided to take our time with her. Now that she is a winner we don’t have much choice. She should go for a Listed fillies race here.”
