Wednesday 21st April 2010, Auteuil. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com) On his first run over the fences of Auteuil, Dulce Léo (Priolo) won the €60,000 Prix Philippe Ménager Chase (4yos-4,100m), after a ferocious battle on the flat with Soleil de Sivola (Discover d'Auteuil). Line Salsa (Kingsalsa) was disappointing to the point that David Cottin pulled her up before the double fence. Philippe Peltier announced afterwards that the mare had bled. On the subject of his charge, winning trainer David Windrif explained: “He is a very good horse, a true horse for Auteuil. The longer the distance and softer the ground, the better he will be. He will run in a Listed in three weeks time (editor’s note; the James Hennessy, on May 9th), then a Group 1 if he stays in the same form.”
The dam of Dulce Léo, Danissima (Fabulous Dancer) showed some talent on the flat. She has already produced Dame Lina (Trempolino), winner over hurdles at Auteuil (Prix René Pelat). Danissima is also the sister of Dalina (Trempolino), second in the Prix Amadou (Gr2), and also Multipass (Sillery), winner of the Talhouet-Roy (Gr2) before being fatally injured in the Cambacérès.

Quo Vadis – Louping d’Ainay as talented as ever

The veteran Louping d'Ainay (AQPS - Saint Preuil) made a winning return to the track, after an absence of a year and a half, in the €50,000 Prix Quo Vadis Chase(5yo+ -3,700m), The grey dominated Queen des Places (Sabrehill), back over fences after a run over hurdles.“It was an excellent first run back”, confided François Cottin. “I know this horse well by now. I have no plans for him at the moment; I will see how he comes out of this race before looking to the future.” A victim of leg problems, Louping d'Ainay had not run since his third place in the Georges Courtois (Gr2), in November 2008, the same year that he finished second in the Grand Steeple de Paris. In winning on his return he proved that he has lost none of his talent at the ripe old age of 11.
Louping d’Ainay was bred by Stéphane Milaveau, and is the best produce of his dam Evermine (Perrault).

Pau – Tyko back in form

A faller on his first run of the year two weeks ago, Tyko (Robin des Champs) came back with a bang and won the €48,000 Prix de Pau Hurdle (5yos-3,900m). Kap Dream (Kapgarde), who was having his first run at Auteuil, finished second 4 lengths behind with Viotti (Dream Well) a further lengths behind in third. “He scared himself when he fell the last time”, explained Philippe Peltier, trainer of the winner. “We had to get his confidence back in the morning. He is a true hurdle. He will be even better over longer distances; I don’t think that softer ground will pose a problem for him. He is Group class and was already talented when in training with Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé.”
Tyko was bred by Gildas Blain. His dam Chikiwi (Saint Cyrien) won once on the flat at Saint-Cloud. She is a sister of Ella Royale (Royal Charter), the dam of Balko, Piraya and Klyne, all top class winners over jumps.

Alcide – Positive start for Sire Collonges

SB_Aqps_500x60

Sire Collonges (AQPS - Dom Alco) made a winning start to his career in the €44,000 Prix Alcide Hurdle (4yo-3,500m). Guy Cherel’s representative jumped perfectly and kicked clear with ease in the straight. Hillbilly (Kapgarde) had to be content with second place five lengths behind the winner despite a strong finish. “He confirmed my opinion of him”, explained Guy Cherel. “He is a very serious horse and doesn’t show a lot in the mornings. He jumped really well and I can find nothing wrong with his performance. He also schools faultlessly aver fences in the mornings and that will be his speciality in the future. I have not yet decided what will be the next step for him.”
The half brother of Sire Collonges, Pacha Collonges (AQPS - Subotica) won over hurdles at Auteuil for Marcel Rolland. They come from the family of Baccarat Collonges (AQPS - Olmeto), second in the Prix La Haye Jousselin in the mid 90s.
