(www.leblogdeparisturf.com) Rescato de l'Oust(Maresca Sorrento) put in a mighty effort on the flat to win the €225,000 Prix du Président de la République (French Grand National-Gr3-5yo+ - 4,700m) by 3 lengths for trainer David Windrif. Ridden patiently at the back of the field by Nathalie Dessouter, he then made up ground progressively up until the water jump. Shortly afterwards he drew upsides the leaders on the approach to the last fence.
In the finish he had to contend with Moscantido(Villez), eventual second, and Polar Rochelais(Le Balafre), two lengths behind in third, but at just 200 metres from the line he found a sixth gear to take the advantage. The winning jockey said afterwards: "We had an ideal run, and had a perfect lead right up until the last fence. Afterwards it was his turn of foot that made the difference.”
