Sunday 21st March 2010, Auteuil. Tout Rouge(AQPS - Dom Alco) showed natural ability and talent when winning the €52,000 Prix Rush Hurdle (3yo Males-3,000m), which is reserved to horse that have never run over jumps before. “From the moment he arrived at the yard I liked him. He is a natural jumper,” announced trainer Guillaume Macaire. The winning trainer won this race last year with Saint Macaire (Saint des Saints).

Scoop_043595_0111Tout Rouge looks to be one to watch for the future, especially as he is an AQPS and it is quite rare for AQPS horses to dominate their thoroughbred counterparts as 3 year olds at Auteuil. His behaviour throughout the race also looked like a positive sign; relaxed in the hands of his jockey, he jumped with ease and looked mature already. On the flat he picked up easily with little encouragement when asked for an effort by Jacques Ricou.

The two representatives of Guy Cherel, Twinlight (Muhtathir) and Sam Winner (Okawango) produced encouraging performances for their first appearances at Auteuil. Despite being quite keen in running, Twinlight managed to finish a length and a half behind Tout Rouge in second place, with Sam Winner a further 15 lengths back in third place.

Bred by his owners, Haras de Saint Voir, Tout Rouge comes from a jumping family. His dam Loi du Plus Fort (Snurge) won three races over jumps including the Prix Samaritain on her debut at Auteuil. Two of her produce are currently in training, of which Tout Rouge is the first winner.

Line Salsa wins Auteuil chasing debut in La Christiniere

4yo Line Salsa (Kingsalsa) won her Parisian chasing debut with style in the €50.000 Prix de la Christiniere 4yo Chase (3,500m) over Auteuil’s heavy ground. The Philippe Peltier-trained, Jacqueline Vuillard-trained filly cantered on her way to the fore 2 out and went cruising to score by 10 lengths over Soleil de Sivola (Discover d’Auteuil).

She’d won her first chase at Angers four weeks earlier and was sent an odds-on favourite to win a 4th time over obstacles. “She’s got a big engine,” said her trainer. “She’s a swift and strong jumper, an unlikely combination. She’s made for Auteuil. She’s got another good race next with females only.”

By polyvalent sire Kingsalsa out of the Gr3 chase winner Line As (Cadoudal), Line Salsa was born to jump and it is just a shame that she fell at the last in the Prix Camille Duboscq 4yo Hurdle (L – 3.500m) last January at Pau after a mistake at the second last. She’d led all the way and would have probably given subsequent winner Solix a hard time that day.
