Tuesday 23rd February 2010, Fontainebleau. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com)Two four year olds caught the eye at the opening meeting of the season at Fontainebleau. Firstly the filly Mojo Moon (Slickly), winner of the €24,000 Prix de la Société des Courses de Craon Hurdle (4yo Females-3,550m), and the colt Montpellier (Della Francesca), successful in the €24,000 Prix Général Marion Hurdle (4yo Males-3,550m). Ridden by Laurent Gérard, the daughter Slickly got the best of the classy Rosa d'Anjou (Rochesson), evoking this reaction from her trainer Dominique Darlix: “Mojo Moon showed some talent last year. This is her first run back so she is obviously not yet at her best but she has showed that she is one to watch for the future.” Mojo Moon is a sister of Moon Rock (Anabaa Blue), who won her maiden as a 3 year old before running at Listed level. In the males’ division, the representative of Sylvie Audon Montpellier opened his record over hurdles, in the hands of her son Jo Audon. The son of Della Francesca made a good impression when dominating the race leader Siro Demur (AQPS - Murmure) on the flat. Montpellier was bred by the Artu family. His second dam, Admiration (Kashmir II) produced Admise (Highest Honor), Gr1 in the U.S.A, as well as the talented Our Highness (Highest Honor), dam of (Montnamix).
Canton de Fontainebleau – Tomeho in top form
The €25,000 Prix du Canton de Fontainebleau Hurdle(5yo+ -3,800m) was won by the 8 year old Tomeho (Ungaro) who beat David Windrif’s Aflatoun (Smadoun) by two and a half lengths in the finish. “Tomeho was in perfect condition ahead of today’s race,” said trainer David Chevrollier, “His jockey, Richard Chatel, rode a great race as my horse is a real stayer. We have lots of time to decide where he will run next.”
