Thursday 18th, Angers. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com) First ride back, first winner! After a terrible fall on September 21st at Craon, which resulted in multiple fractures to his leg, Adrien Fouassier made a successful return to the saddle at Angers when partnering Papa Loves Mambo (Okawango) in the €16,000 Prix France Galop (4yos-2,100m). He said afterwards, “I’m just happy to be back riding again but it’s true that a winner on my return is great. He is a very good horse, because we didn’t have the easiest of runs. My instructions were to stay close to the front but I couldn’t stop drifting back. He finished very strongly.” The son of Okawango was the strongest in the finish when overtaking A Cœur Ouvert, who was going like a winner at the time. Papa Loves Mambo was bought for €6,000, as a yearling, at the Arqana December 2007 Sales.

Yann Roy – World de Bellouet back in action

Not seen on the track since his third place at Enghien on November 20th, World de Bellouet (Evening World) made a winning return in the €28,000 Prix Yann Roy Chase (5yo+ - 4,200m). Rapidly to the head of affairs, the son of Evening World jumped the last fence alongside Formigny (Trempolino) and Mercelino (Passing Sale). The representative of trainer Adrien Lacombe battled hard to beat Formigny by a head in the finish. Hot favourite Mercelino had to once again be content with third place after achieving a similar placing in the Grande Course de Haies at Cagnes-sur-Mer. "We hadn’t planned to go out in front. But as there was no pace and he was quite keen I preferred to let him gallop on a bit,” explained winning jockey Sébastien Zuliani.

Jeanne de Laval – No hanging around for Classic Angel

On her third start Classic Angel (Samum) won easily on the flat in the €14,000 Prix Jeanne de Laval (3yo Fillies-2,100m), beating the useful Queens Coach (American Post) by 10 lengths. Classic Angel gave off the impression of a filly who gallops well and seemed to enjoy the sticky ground.

Peltrais – Sprint de Ferbet on the mark

The representative of François Nicolle, Sprint de Ferbet (Dark Moondancer) took home the €18,000 Prix des Peltrais (AQPS-4yos-2,300m), leaving Saga Môme (Indian River) four lengths behind in second place. Sprint de Ferbet recently had her first run at Pau, where she finished a decent fourth.
