Sunday 24th January 2010, Pau. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com) Rubi Ball (Network) may be very talented but even the best horses are still capable of making mistakes. Luckily he had the equally talented Christophe Pieux in the saddle when he made an error at the open ditch on the last bend in the €160,000 123e Grand Prix de Deauville Chase (Gr3 -5yo+ - 5,300m). Pieux made a miraculous recovery to stay onboard the eventual winner who had to battle hard against Quick Fire, who runs in the same colours.
Rubi Ball will now have a well deserved rest for a few months before his next engagement.
Al Capone – Memorable win for Saying Again

Saying Again (AQ – Califet) carried the colours of owner Ottavia Roffi-Urano (daughter of Lucien Urano, Ecurie des Charmes) to victory for the first time ever in the €30,000 Prix Al Capone II Hurdle (AQPS-4yos-3,500m). Saying Again came here off a win on the flat on December 29th. Bred by trainer Guy Cherel, Saying Again is a son of Débandade (Le Pontet), a winner over both fences and hurdles.
Gerard Sereys – Quoquo de Chalon en route for Grand Cross

Since the 11th of January we have known that Quoquo de Chalon (SF - Robin des Champs) will run in the Prix Gaston de Bataille, Grand Cross de Pau (7th February). However it has also been mentioned that he needed to gain more experience, which is no doubt the reason why Jacques Ortet ran him in the €28,000 Prix Gérard Sereys (Cross Country- 6yo+ - 4,600m). Quoquo de Chalon played with his rivals and produced an impressive acceleration to overtake Achango. The 12 year old Kivala de Kerser finished back in third place.
