Thursday 14th October 2010, Bordeaux le Bouscat (www.jourdegalop.com) Zibimix (Linamix) created a surprise when winning the €80,000 Prix André Baboin (Gr3 – 3yos – 1900m). Zibimix, who was bought in a claimer for €25,555 by owner Antoine Boucher last December, did not mess up on his first attempt in Group company. Sat on the heels of the leaders, he took the lead halfway up the straight and fought off all attacks to win by a length. Thaï Haku (Oasis Dream) took second place a neck in front of the other Marquise de Moratalla representative Skins Game (Diktat).
Zibimix was bred by the Wertheimer brothers and is the fifth foal out of Izibi (Saint Cyrien). Izibi is a half sister to Val des Bois (Bellypha) who won the Prix La Force, de Guiche, du Muguet et Edmond Blanc (Grs3) and then finished second in the Prix d’Ispahan (Gr1) before leaving for the USA where she twice finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (Gr1).
Jean-Claude Rouget had the best chance of winning ahead of the €55,000 Grand Critérium (L – 2yos – 1600m), and in the end it was his charge Doo Lang (Pulpit), the only filly in the race, who beat her stable companion the hot favourite Yarubo (Muhtathir). The filly benefited from a good run behind the leaders in the hands of Christophe Lemaire, who managed to keep her tucked in behind other horses for as long as possible in the small field of just five runners. Once a gap opened in front of her she came through to win by an easy length and a half. Ultime Bere (High Yield) took third place a further two lengths behind Yarubo.
Bred by her owner, Joseph Allen, Doo Lang is a half sister to War Officer (Grand Slam), who was renamed Rock’n Typhoon when he was sold to Hong Kong. When trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, War Officer won the Prix Montenica and Sigy (Listeds) over 1,200 and 1,300m.

The Jean-Claude Rouget trained Rosanabad (Selkirk) showed his natural class and ability when winning the €18,000 Prix de la Croix Blanche (2yo Maiden – 1600m) by two and a half lengths without encountering any threats in the final stages. He still looks to be quite babyish and should improve for this run but he is already cited to be a three year old to look out for next year. His stable companion Moncofar (Refuse to Bend) took second place with Urubu (Enrique) a further length and a half back in third.
Bred by the Aga Khan Studs, Rosanabad is the second product out of Rosawa (Linamix), who’s first foal was the Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr1) winner Rosanara (Sinndar). Rosawa was trained by André Fabre to win two Listeds as a 3 year old. Since Rosanabad she has produced a Red Ransom yearling and a foal by Dylan Thomas.
