Wednesday 13th October 2010 Maisons Laffitte (www.jourdegalop.com) The favourite in the €55,000 Prix de Saint-Cyr (L – 3yos – 1400m), Gotlandia (Anabaa) proved her connections right in taking the chance in this race when achieving the biggest success of her career. Four times Listed placed and second in the Prix de la Grotte (Gr3), Mikel Delzangles’ charge deserved this black type success. Her trainer said afterwards that she may go for the Prix Perth (Gr3) or a Group race in Italy.
A full brother Gotlandia, named Gondolier, will pass through the sales ring at Deauville, next week (lot 105, presented by Haras du Quesnay.)
A talented Listed filly, The Living Room (Gold Away) proved her ability when taking third place a neck behind Clairvoyance (Shamardal) who finished half a length behind the winner.
Ayun Tara (Martaline) finished back in fourth place and could now have one more run in France before heading for the Cape Verdi Stakes (Gr3) in Dubai in January.
Gotlandia is out of Grenade (Bering) and is the mare’s second foal and first winner. Gotlandia was purchased for €45,000 at the Arqana Yearling Sales in August 2008.

The €32,000 Prix Glorieuse (4&5yo AQPS – 2600m), an important race for AQPS females, was won easily by Soft Drink (Dark Moondancer). This was a first prestigious victory on the flat for François Doumen’s charge who was quickly to the front before kicking clear with ease in the final stages. She may now go into training with Francois’s son Thierry in preparation for a jumping career. Connections also mentioned that her next race will be in the Prix Chloris and that she will stay in training next year.
Soft Drink is a sister to two good jumpers in Pommerol (Subotica), second in the Prix Général de Saint-Didier (Gr3), and Rhumerie (Shaanmer), winner at Auteuil and Listed placed over hurdles. Their dam, Irish Cofee (Video Rock), finished third in the Prix Glorieuse in her time. She unfortunately died while foaling Soft Drink.
