Thursday 23rd September 2010, Saint Cloud (www.jourdegalop.com) Zack Hall (Muhtahir) was the horse on everybody’s’ lips at Saint Cloud on Thursday. He went off the favourite in the €55,000 Prix Turenne (L-3yo Males-2400m) and did not disappoint when passing the winning post a neck ahead of his nearest rival Mashoor (Monsun). Oranais (Dalakhani) looks to be one to watch for the future after running well to take third place a further three quarters of a length behind the pair. Zack Hall had a very good run throughout the race before throwing down his challenge on turning into the straight and going on to win comfortably. He may not have won by far but it was the manner in which he controlled the race which was impressive. According to winning trainer Mikel Delzangles he should now go for the Prix du Conseil de Paris (Gr2, 17/10).

Zack Hall is out of Halawa (Dancing Brave), an Aga Khan mare that was sold to Zakaria Hakam in 2001.  Apart from Zack Hall she has also produced Afaf (Spectrum), winner of the Prix Fille de l’Air (Gr3) at Toulouse, and Zack Dream (Dream Well), a winner at Chantilly and placed second in the Prix du Lys (Gr3) behind Montmartre (Montjeu). Zack Hall was sold for €56,000 to HB Bloodstock at the Arqana Sales in February 2010.

Coronation- It’s Midnight back on track

It’s Midnight (Shamardal) was successful in the €55,000 Prix Coronation (L-3yo Fillies-1600m) after her much talked about last run at Deauville where he swerved in the straight. The Niarchos Familly’s representative beat the Andre Fabre trained Disclose (Dansili) by three quarters of a length with the unlucky Gotlandia (Anabaa) a further short neck behind in third.

Bred by the Niarchos family, It’s Midnight is a daughter of Witching Hour (Fairy King), who was also trained by Pascal Bary. She is also the dam of Holocène (Lemon Drop Kid), runner up behind Manduro (Monsun) in the Prix Jacques Le Marois (Gr1) and second in the Prix La Rochette, Thomas Bryon, de Guiche (Group 3s).
