Friday 17^th September 2010, Saint Cloud (www.jourdegalop.com) Prairie Star (Peintre Célèbre) was the attraction on the card and he did not disappoint when coming home the comfortable winner of the €34,000 Prix Le Capucin (2yo Males – 1600m). Quickly to the front, he accelerated progressively and fought off numerous attacks on the last bend before kicking up a gear on turning into the straight. “He is a horse that I like a lot”, commented trainer Élie Lellouche. “I told Anthony (Crastus, his jockey) to let him stride on, which is what he did and we saw the difference. He also fought off multiple attacks before kicking clear.” According to his trainer he should now go for the Prix de Condé (Gr3).  

Nobel Winner (Grand Slam) finished second 2 lengths behind the winner on his first start. He is a brother of Brigantin (Cozzene), recent winner of the Prix de Lutèce, (Gr3). Venomous (Red Ransom) took third place a further length and a half behind.

Bred by Dayton Investments, Prairie Star is out of Prairie Runner (Arazi) who won the Prix Minerve (Gr3) before finishing fourth in the Prix de Pomone (Gr2). Prairie Star is a half brother to Prairie Flower (Zieten), who made a winning debut in the autumn of his 2 year old career before finishing second in the Prix Michel Houyvet (L) at Deauville.

Pearl Cap – Nosail on the mark

Nosail (Anabaa Blue) opened her record in the €34,000 Prix Pearl Cap (2yo Fillies-1600m). Quickly away, she sat in the leading group before fighting off any challenges to come home three quarters of a length ahead of Ana Style (Anabaa Blue). Trainer Freddy Head said afterwards; “Olivier told me that he still had a lot in hand. She picked up again when challenged and I think she could stay longer next year, probably over 2000m. She is easy to ride and doesn’t pull which is why we let her go on in the leading bunch.”

Bred by the Wertheimer brothers, Nosail is a daughter of Freezing (Bering), a maiden winner at Moulins. She has also produced Polarix (Linamix), who has been Listed placed on multiple occasions for trainer Henri-Alex Pantall.
