Pin – Rodolphe Collet’s horses back in form

“We have had virus in the yard and Sahpresa (Sahm) was victim to it. After her off form performance
at Royal Ascot we did some tests and discovered that Sahpresa had a lung infection”, announced Rodolphe Collet after his charge’s success in the €80,000 Prix du Pin
(Gr3 – 3yos – 1,400m). Sahpresa was clearly back to her best as she drew upsides the leaders in the straight to easily get the better of Dalghar (Anabaa). “We gave Sahpresa the time she needed and she won well today”, added her trainer. “She needs good ground and we have three possibilities for her, the "Forêt", the Sun Chariot Stakes or the Daniel Wildenstein". Connections will have to bear in mind that in the “Foret” their filly will come up against the formidable Goldikova.
On Sunday the winner of the Prix du Palais-Royal (Gr3), Dalghar took second place a length and a half behind Sahpresa. Carlos Laffon-Parias’ charge Évaporation (Red Ransom) made up for her disappointing performance in the Prix Rothschild (Gr1) when finishing a further length behind in third.
Sahpresa is by Sahm (Mr Prospector), a Group 2 winner in the USA, and is his first Group 1 winner in Europe.
Lutece – First Group win for Boudot
After his easy success in the Swiss Derby (L), Brigantin (Cozzene) was the authoritive winner of the €80,000 Prix de Lutèce (Gr3 – 3yos - 3,000m). André Fabre’s charge revelled in his first opportunity in a Group race over this longer distance making up for his misfortune in Vichy when he was demoted in the Prix Frédéric de Lagrange (L) after weighing in a kilo and half too light. On Sunday he settled well for young jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot, before beating Shamanova (Danehill Dancer) by three quarters of a length with Permit (Dansili) a further four lengths behind in third. Afterwards Pierre-Charles Boudot thanks Madame Élizabeth Fabre, owner of Brigantin, for what was his first Group success, no doubt there will be many more to come for this up and coming young jockey.
Bred in partnership by Team Valor, Madame Élizabeth Fabre and Denali Stud & Partners, Brigantin is the son of Banyu Dewi (Poliglote). When trained by Mario Hofer, Banyu Dewi won a Listed race at Baden-Baden before finishing fourth in the Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1). Since Brigantin she has produced Banerji (Gulch) and a yearling by Grand Slam (Gone West).
