Sunday 5th September 2010, Longchamp (www.jourdegalop.com) The star on Sunday’s card at Longchamp was by far Fuissé (Green Tune), not only because of his success in the €450,000 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1 - 3yo Colts and Fillies - 1,600m) but also due to the fact that he unseated jockey Stéphane Pasquier not only once but twice in his way to the start. The second time resulted in him galloping loose on the track for almost fifteen minutes. “When they caught him, they asked me was he going to run. I said of course he will run!” was the reaction of Alec Head after the race.

The downside of this Prix du Moulin was the disappointing performance of Lope de Vega (Shamardal) who was only a shadow of his former self. In the straight his head carriage was a cause for concern and the worry is that he may not come back to his previous form.

As for Fuisse, Criquette Head-Maarek announced: “That is how he needs to be ridden. At Deauville (in the Prix Jacques le Marois) he was out in front but today he was able to sit back and relax saving himself for the finish. When he is fresh like that he often ducks to the side like he did on the way to the start.” Winning jockey Stéphane Pasquier did not participate in any of the rest of the races on the card, nor will he ride on Monday, as he was limping on the way to the podium after his two falls. He exclaimed “It proves that racing is a real sport. I ran 4 kilometres on foot before the race.”

The winning trainer continued; “Nothing has been decided, but the Champion Stakes at Newmarket are a possibility. I think that 2,000m won’t be a problem for him if the race is run like it was today.”

Winner of the Grand Critérium (Gr1) in 2007 Rio de la Plata (Rahy) is a horse that has encountered numerous problems. He proved that he is back to his best when finishing second here, a head behind the winner, under young jockey Mickael Barzalona. A further head behind in third was Alain de Royer Dupre’s Siyouni (Pivotal). The slower pace of this race was obviously not to the liking of Paco Boy who finished a further length and a half behind in fourth place

Fuissé is a brother of Full of Gold (Gold Away), winner of the Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1) in 2007 and now standing as a stallion. His dam, Funny Féerie (Sillery), also produced Flagstaff (Numerous), bought back as a yearling after the first victory of Fuissé. He has run three times and finished second on his first start. After Fuissé and Flagstaff, their dam produced a 2 year old filly, Finella (Kingsalsa), and a yearling colt, Francastel, (Gold Away) who is a full brother to Full of Gold.
