Tuesday 3rd August 2010, Deauville. (www.jourdegalop.com) Prince Khalid Abdullah 2 year old fillies are in great form at the moment and Concealing (Dansili) continued this winning streak when successful in the €24,000 Prix de Lisieux (Unraced 2yo Fillies-1,200m). His representative won easily by a length but without having to dig deep for an effort. Winning jockey Maxime Guyon declared afterwards: “She made a good impression on me because she won easily. She wasn’t keen and I think that she could be better over a longer trip.” Quickly settled in the leading group, Concealing relaxed and strode out nicely. She easily got the better of One Thousand (Anabaa) 200 metres from the line to win comfortably.  Madly in Love (Slickly) finished a further 3 lengths behind in third place.

Bred by Juddmonte Farms, Concealing is a sister to World Ruler (Dansili), fourth in the Prix Daphnis (Gr3) and three times Listed placed, and also to Grand Vista (Danehill), third in the Prix Paul de Moussac (Gr3) and second in the Prix de Tourgeville (L) behind Vertigineux (Nombre Premier). The dam of Concealing, Revealing (Halling) won one race as a 2 year old over 1,000m.

Tancarville – Relief for Pelletan

“Al Hazim (Anabaa) has the physique of a bodybuilder and a lot of speed” announced trainer Jean-Luc Pelletan, after the success of his charge in the €24,000 Prix de Tancarville (Unraced 2yo Males-1,200m). When challenged in the finish by Spirit of Battle (Elusive Quality), who was supplemented for this race by Andre Fabre, Al Hazim fought back and kicked clear of his rival in the last 100 metres to win by one and a half lengths. “I have been tense for the last week but it is all over now and he has won” continued the trainer. “I didn’t want him to have his first run here as I feel he is still quite weak mentally and needs to mature. But he is serious and has a big engine; he will be good between 1,200 and 1,400 metres.” Third place went to Flying Scotsman (Kyllachy) a further 3 lengths back.

The dam of Al Hazim, Fantastic Women (Henbane), won the Sweet Patootie Handicap (L). She has also bred Quick N Fancy (Announce), third in the Ohio Debutante Stakes (L). Al Hazim was bought back as a yearling at the Arqana August Sales for €35,000 when consigned by Haras du Quesnay (click here for catalogue page).

Colleville – Manhaj remains undefeated

Manhaj (Medicean) maintained his unbeaten record when winning the €29,000 Prix de Colleville (2yos-1,600m). Sitting fourth of five runners on turning into the straight he produced an impressive turn of foot to catch eventual second Yarubo (Muhtathir) and win by half a length. Manhaj was giving 3 and 4 kilos to his rivals due to his previous success and was making the step up in trip from 1,200 to 1,600 metres. He looks to be one to watch in the principal races this autumn. The Wertheimer representative Polemique (Poliglote) was a further length and a half behind in third place.

Bred by Newsells Park Stud, Manhaj is the first foal out of La Dangeville (Danehill), a mare who was trained in Germany by Urs Suter and who unfortunately died last November. She also bred a yearling filly by Motivator (Montjeu) and a foal by Sakhee (Bahri). Manhaj was sold to Shadwell France as a yearling in August 2009 for €230,000(click here for catalogue page).

Cricqueville – Factors work in Wazns favour

“The distance, being blinkered for the first time and the standard of his rivals; everything was in place for Wazn (Whipper) to run a good race.” Freddy Head perfectly summed up the situation of his charge in the €24,000 Prix de Cricqueville (3yo Males Maiden-1,500m Fibresand). Wazn didn’t let the chance to open his record pass him by despite winning only by a neck in the end. L’Ami Gaby (Muhtathir) took second place, proving that the drop back in trip was to his liking, while a further neck behind in third was Babylone (Dubai Destination).

Bred by Kilfrush Stud Farm, Wazn is a brother of the talented New Girlfriend (Diesis), winner of the Prix Robert Papin (Gr2), of the Seine-et-Oise (Gr3) and the Yacowlef (L). Wazn is a son of New Story (Dynaformer) and is her second winner. Trained by Robert Collet, New Story finished second in the Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr1) and was Group placed four times in the USA. She also finished sixth in the Prix de Diane (Gr1). Wazn was bought by Shadwell France for €240,000 as a yearling at the Arqana August Sale in 2008 (click here for catalogue page).
