Sunday 1st August 2010, Deauville. (www.jourdegalop.com) “I knew that Pontenuovo (Green Tune) was an extraordinary horse the moment she arrived in the yard”, announced Yves de Nicolay on the subject of his winner of the €80,000 Prix de Cabourg-Jockey Club de Turquie (Gr3-2yos-1,200m). A few years after training Porlezza (Sicyos) who won a first Group 1 for the trainer in the Prix Maurice de Gheest, he knows has that mare’s second product in his care. “Pontenuovo has a very good character and is very good looking. She has a lot in common with her mother Porlezza, who stamps her produce.”
Captain Chop (Indian Rocket) took second place 2 lengths behind while the previously unbeaten Khawatim (Intikhab) tasted defeat for the first time when finishing third a further half a length back.
