Thursday 29th July 2010, Clairefontaine. (www.jourdegalop.com) Turning into the straight in the €24,000 Prix Misti (Unraced 3yos-2,400m), the two favourites, Visapour (Sinndar) and Vrotos (Hernando), were battling hard for success. However it was neither of these geldings who passed the post first, instead victory went to the only colt in the field, Distingue Lovers (High Chaparral), who came up easily under jockey Grégory Benoist to win by two and a half lengths without any encouragement from the whip. Visapour and Vrotos took second and third place respectively, with only a short head separating them. Speaking to Equidia after the race, Grégory Benoist announced; “I had a very good run. In my opinion he is a good horse, maybe even very good. He picked up nicely when I asked him for an effort and it is a good sign for the future.”
Distingue Lovers is the second offspring out of his dam Sunburst (Gone West). His second dam, Bright Generation (Rainbow Quest) – won the Italian Oaks (Gr1) and was second in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr1) at the Curragh. Distingue Lovers was sold to Robert Nataf for €82,000 at the Arqana Yearling Sales in August 2008 (click here for catalogue page).
Prix Misti (2) – Apres Vous lets no one pass him by
Après Vous (Monsun), from the family of Manduro, won easily in the second division of the €24,000 Prix Misti (Unraced 3yos-2,400m). The André Fabre trained impressively built colt took the lead early on before striding out in the straight without any insistence from his jockey to win by 5 lengths. Ghaabesh (Alhaarth) took second place despite receiving two reminders from jockey Christophe Soumillon a long way from the line in order to focus him on the job in hand.
Après Vous was purchased as a foal in 2007 at Tattersalls by Demi O’Byrne (Coolmore) for GNS 450,000(click here for catalogue page). He possesses an impressive pedigree with the same second dam as Manduro, Mandelauge (Elektrant). Another bonus is that his pedigree is free from Northern Dancer, which is always attractive to Coolmore.
