Friday 9th July 2010, Deauville. (www.jourdegalop.com) Key Foot (Footstepsinthesand) started off favourite in the €24,000 Prix de Saint-Hymer (2yo Maiden Males-1,300m fibresand) and led the race from pillar to post to win by three quarters of a length. However he looks to still have room for improvement as he drifted a little when alone in front. His jockey, Ioritz Mendizabal, was in agreement when speaking to Equidia: “I prefer to ride him behind other horses so that he can come from behind. Alone in front, he looked around a lot. But he is a horse that I like a lot.”

Andreino (Titus Livius) was the only horse having his first start in this race and he made a good impression in the straight to take second place two lengths ahead of Blue Soave (Soave).

Key Foot is the first produce of his dam Key Circle (Jade Robbery) who was not very successful in her racing career. His dam Crystal Gazing (El Gran Senor) was unbeaten in her first three starts before finishing third in the 1000 Guineas (Gr1) at Newmarket.

Fierville – Kagura wins her maiden

The €24,000 Prix de Fierville (2yo Maiden Fillies-1,300m fibresand) was won by the well bred daughter Miss Emma (Key of Luck), twice winner of the Prix de Seine-et-Oise (Gr3), Kagura (Vindication) who is trained by Guy Henrot.

She opened her record in good style when beating Pinielde (High Yield) by 3 lengths with Tara Reel (Country Reel) a further short neck behind in third. Hot favourite Doo Lang (Pulpit) couldn’t go with the pace and had to be content with fourth place.

Kagura was bred by his owner, Takahiro Wada, in whose colours Miss Emma ran while in training in France. Kagura is her second offspring. Miss Emma’s full brother, Redésignation, is in training with Rupert Pritchard-Gordon after a stint in England and finished fourth last month in the Prix La Moskowa (L), over 3,000m.
