Grand Prix de Saint Cloud Report - Group 1 success for Plumania PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 27 June 2010 22:18

Sunday 27th June 2010, Saint Cloud. (www.jourdegalop.com) After her victory in the Prix Corrida (Gr2), Plumania (Anabaa) achieved the most important win of her career in the €400,000 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Gr1-4yos+-2,400m). Tough and brave right to the line, she managed to fight off the challenge of Youmzain (Sinndar) who finished well. And rightly so she kept the win even after a stewards’ enquiry due to her cutting across Pouvoir Absolu (Sadler’s Wells) 200 metres from the line, causing his jockey to snatch him up.  “We worried about the enquiry but she deserved this Group 1 win”, declared Pierre-Yves Bureau, manager to the owners’ the Wertheimer brothers. “She has previously been placed in the Prix de Diane, Vermeille and Boussac (Gr1s). She is a magnificent filly. The Prix Vermeille is a possibility for her.”

Plumania earned André Fabre his sixth success in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, the first with a filly, after horses such as Village Star (Moulin - 1988), In the Wings (Sadler’s Wells - 1990), Apple Tree (Bikala - 1994), Carnegie (Sadler’s Wells - 1995) and Fragrant Mix (Linamix - 1998).

Placed second three times in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr1) and winner of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud 2008, Youmzain finished a nose behind the winner in second place. Trainer Mick Channon commented afterwards; “A stride before and after the line he had the race won. He finished very well and we knew he would run well today. He will without a doubt go to Ascot for the King George, then come back to France for the Arc in hope that luck will be on our side!”

Daryakana (Selkirk) benefited from a good run in behind the leader Pouvoir Absolu. She made a good effort to finish a short neck behind Youmzain in third place. Carlos Lerner’s Celimene (Dr Fong) was a further length behind in fourth place.

Plumania comes from the Wertheimer’s successful breeding operation. Her dam, Featherquest (Rainbow Quest), remained a maiden despite 15 starts. She also produced Balladeuse (Singspiel), winner of the Qatar Prix de Royallieu (Gr2). She also has a 3 year old half sister to Plumania, Singuliere (Singspiel), who is a winner, a 2 year old filly, Insoumise (Galileo) and a yearling filly Secrete (Cape Cross). This year she produced a full sister to Plumania.

Hi
I'm also interested in purchasing race results, dividend returns for bets and PMU pool sizes for horse racing in France.
I can't see anywhere where historic pool sizes for bet dividends are shown, for example the day after the race. Just the dividend - is this data available?
Regards
Colin

you can get an estimation of PMU pool sizes on pmu.fr website before the races, when you click to get the "Rapports probables". The pool size usually lies under the table.
