Sunday 20th June 2010, Lyon Parilly (www.jourdegalop.com) “With Young Tiger (Tiger Hill) and Agent Secret (Ire-Pyrus), we have two horses for the "Défi", announced François Rohaut, “May the best one win!” On this occasion it was Agent Secret who took the fourth race of the Défi du Galop series, the €60,000 Grand Prix de Lyon (L-4yos+ -2,400m). Thanks to this win Agent Secret is now two points behind Young Tiger (Tiger Hill), who is on top of the Défi du Galop table with 12 points and who was not present for this step of the series.

Ridden on the heels of Amico Mio (Fr-Best of the Bests) during the race, Agent Secret was quite keen due in a race without much pace. On making his move at the 300 metre mark he had only Jean-Marie Béguigné’s charge to beat and victory was his. In the end Agent Secret came home three quarters of a length ahead of Amico Mio. François Rohaut said afterwards: “He deserved this win. He has come up against good horses everytime; Élie Lellouche’s horse early in the year and then Young Tiger at Toulouse. Today he was running over his distance, on ground that suits him with the type of pace he needs. He is a very brave horse who keeps improving and we are delighted. Our plans are not definite but he could run in the Grand Prix de Vichy (Gr3-2,000mT on July 21st).” If Agent Secret is on his way to Vichy, Young Tiger will more than likely leave the Défi du Galop programme for the moment to run in the Gran Premio de Madrid (A) next Sunday, before coming back to the series in the Copa de Oro (L) on August 15th. If successful at Vichy, Agent Secret will take the lead in the series from his stable companion. Agent Secret has not disappointed his connections since the start of his career. From 12 starts he has achieved a total of 4 wins and 8 places.

A winner by 15 lengths on his last start, Diamond Boy (Mansonnien) started favourite in this Listed but could only manage fourth place. “I’m not disappointed, because he was impressive over a much longer trip”, declared trainer François Doumen. “Today I found him a little flat as he has already won three races this year. I think he needs to run over a longer trip. The Défi du Galop is not his objective.” Wysiwyg Lucky (Fr-Ultimately Lucky) finished well to take third place.

Bred by J.N. Hutchinson, Agent Secret is a brother of Imperial Secret (Imperial Ballet) who was a winner on the flat and also over hurdles in the Grande Course de Haies de Cagnes (L) 2008 and finished third in a Gr1 over hurdles in Rome. Their dam Ron’s Secret (Efisio) won three handicaps in the UK. Agen Secret was unsold €145,000 at the 2009 Arqana Arc sale (click here for catalogue page).
