Friday 18th June 2010, Toulouse. (www.jourdegalop.com). There were only six runners at the start of the €55,000 Derby du Languedoc (L-3yos-2,400m), two of which were presented by Jean-Claude Rouget, Laristan (Sinndar) and Midnight Game (Montjeu). It was these two who took the first two places, dominating the rest of their opposition. Straight to the head of affairs, Midnight Game seemed to have the race sown up on turning into the straight. But just like he did at Deauville this winter, the Aga Khan's Laristan found another gear, which made the difference, beating Midnight Game by two and a half lengths. Four lengths behind in third place was Ucandri (Refuse to Bend).
Laristan is entered in the Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1 - 2,400mT, on July 14th), which could be his next objective.
He's is out of Laxlova (Linamix), who won the Critérium du Languedoc (L) as a 2 year old, but was unable to step up in class the following year. Nonetheless she won the Prix Casimir Delamarre (L) before retiring to stud as a 3 year old. After Laristan, Laxlova had a colt by Intikhab, then another colt by Acclamation.
