Saturday 20th February 2010, Cagnes-sur-Mer. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com) There was a surprise in the finish of the €25,000 Prix des Remparts (4yo+ -1,600m Fibresand). Source Bleue (Gold Away), one of the outsiders in the betting , confirmed her ability on the fibresand track when beating Crindegun (Divine Light) and Garnica (Linamix), back in third place. “She was running against good horses but I’ve always estimated my filly”, confided Jean-Claude Napoli. “Tony Piccone rode her very well. I think I will enter her next in a conditions race at Lyon-Parilly.”

Source Bleue was bought from a claimer in January 2009, for €27,550 euros, after winning on the Fibresand at Deauville. She is to date the best product of her dam, Source de Rêve (Kaldoun), a full sister of the useful Saint Medard. Source Bleue was presented twice at public auction, once as a foal and again as a yearling; both times she made €10,000 (click here for catalogue page).

Fontmerle - Relief for Prodhomme

Didier Prod'homme could finally breathe a sigh of relief when Nostaltir (Muhtathir) provided him with his first winner of the meeting. Ridden by champion amateur jockey Florent Guy and owned by Bernard Giraudon he dominated rivals in the €16,000 Prix de Fontmerle (Male Amateurs-5yo+ -2,400m Fibresand). “I told Florent to wait, because 2,400 metres is the longest trip she can handle. She will have one more race, possibly at Marseille on the 1st of March, and then she will go to stud as a broodmare.”
Didier Prod'homme previously trained the dam of Nostaltir, Nostalchia (Généreux Génie), placed fifth in the Prix Ris-Orangis (Gr3) and third in the Prix Imprudence (L.).
