Wednesday 17th February 2010, Cagnes-sur-Mer. (www.leblogdeparisturf.com) A winner here on her all weather debut two weeks ago, Lunacat (One Cool Cat) confirmed her ability on the surface when winning the €27,000 Prix de la Baie des Anges (3yos-1,600m Fibresand). Ridden confidently by François-Xavier Bertras, the filly made the difference in the straight putting distance between herself and Anvers (Johannesburg), who finished second, and Spectacle du Mars (Martillo) who kept on for third place. Lunacat had played up quite a bit at the start before the race. “She is a little filly, with an enormous heart, but also a lot of character,” explained François-Xavier Bertras. “She is very easy to ride in races. She progresses with ever run and seems to really enjoy this track.” Lunacat, like many of her stable mates, was not yet at 100% for her debut at Dax last August. After these two wins she should now be able to move up in category.
Lunacat was bought for €32,000 by Guy Petit at the Arqana October Sales in 2008 (

Brignoles – Around Me back on form

Around Me (Johannesburg) finished second in the Listed Critérium de Vitesse, last October at Longchamp, but has up until now been disappointing on her starts at Cagnes. She seemed to have found her feet once more when she was successful in the €20,000 Prix de Brignoles (3yos-1,600m Fibresand), however she played up on leaving the parade ring and didn’t appear keen to go out onto the track. During the race she made her move through a gap on the rail and overtook Les Pourcy (Le Vie Dei Colori) and Greek Partner (Dubai Destination) with ease. “She often acts up like that”, confirmed Robert Collet’s young apprentice Steven Bourgois, who took 3.5kg of the fillies back thanks to his claim.

“I left her to it and thankfully the moment passed. In the end she won quite easily.”

Around Me was purchased for GNS 65,000, at Tattersalls in October 2008 (click here for catalogue page). It is a family that Around Me’s trainer, Robert Collet know very well as her mother is a sister of Last Tycoon (Try My Best), Tender is Thenight, dam of Tie Black (Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, Gr1), Zelda, dam of Zipping, Zelding, Nipping. This mare Moon Flower, is by Sadler's Wells, and has already produced Fantastic Love, Gr2 winner in Australia, and Enchanting Muse, placed in the Prix Robert Papin (Gr2) also for Robert Collet.
