Thursday, March 25th, 2010 (Press Release). - "The quality on offer at Arqana’s Saint-Cloud breeze up sale has improved constantly over the past few years, yet the catalogue for the 2010 renewal, to be held on May 15th at Saint-Cloud, is far and away the best ever assembled for this event. This relentless upward trend is in line with the numerous prizes collected on the track by graduates of this sale: the Group winners Tamazirte, Oiseau de Feu, Grand Couturier, Pallodio and Grandcamp have been the major flag-bearers lately, but the Listed scorers Violon Sacre, Wingstar and most recently Evading Tempete, who took the L. Prix Ronde de Nuit at Deauville on March 18th, also contributed to its growing reputation.
Most importantly, these seven Stakes winners cost a mere €31,285 on average, which means that their owners earned some handsome returns on investment. Tamazirte, for example, was purchased for €40,000 in 2008 and amassed a staggering €415,000 during a two-year career.
The 156 juveniles featuring in the 2010 catalogue are by the most prolific winner-producing sires, including Anabaa, Cape Cross, Dalakhani, Danehill Dancer, Dansili, Dubawi, Elusive City, Elusive Quality, Galileo, Giant's causeway, Green Desert, Hennessy, High Chaparral, Invincible Spirit, Johannesburg, Medaglia d'Oro, Medicean, More Than ready, Mr. Greeley, Muhtathir, Nayef, Oasis Dream, Smart Strike, Verglas, Whipper, Zamindar, etc. The young guns are also well represented, with offspring of Azamour, Bluegrass Cat, Footstepsinthesand, Hurricane Run, Motivator, Oratorio, Shamardal etc. As far as the maternal pedigrees are concerned, 47 horses are out of black-type producing dams, including siblings to the Group winners Elusive Wave, Bribon, Obrigado, Stefer, Lixirova, Midnight Beauty, etc. Finally, 43 juveniles are out of mares who have black type to their own name.
111 of the 156 juveniles on offer are eligible to the Racing Post Breeze Up Bonus, which offers owners an extra £5,000 when their charge wins a maiden, nursery, conditions or Stakes race at two."
