Tuesday 8th, Deauville. The figures for Tuesday’s yearling sales at Arqana were almost identical to the same sale in 2008: The average price and the median are almost the same. Only the percentage of sale increased from 63 % to 65.6 %.
The top price was achieved by lot 908 , a colt by Oasis Dream out of Jade Jewel, purchased for €48,000 by Yann Houyvet for André Rebeuh. “He is a very good looking colt, who stood out from the rest of the catalogue. As he is a May foal, he couldn’t be presented for sale earlier. He comes from a very good family. He will go into training with Eric Libaud. We hope that he will make a Group horse.”
Lot 804 , a colt by Lion Heart was sold for €38,000. Frédéric Sauque commented on his purchase: “He is for an Italian client and he will go into training in France with Giuseppe Botti. The colt stood out for me and was above the rest of the catalogue. I think he would have had a place in the August catalogue and that I would have paid a lot more for him if that was the case.”
The pinhooker Con Marnane took home two interesting lots, numbers 868 and 935. He paid €36,000 for a colt by Iffraaf, after the purchase he declared: “He is a very good looking colt and I will prepare him for the breeze-ups in Saint-Cloud next year. I like his breeding and I hope he will make a nice Stakes class horse”. He was also delighted to have successfully purchased a son of Shamardal for €34,000: “Like the previous colt he is also destined for the breeze-ups at Saint-Cloud. He is an athletic type by a desired stallion. He is the first Shamardal that I have managed to buy. I am very pleased with the sale in general, I was only underbidder twice.”
