Tomorrow is the first of a three day yearling sale hosted by Arqana in Deauville. The October Yearling Sale will be the first of its kind for the French sales company where buyers can register in advance and then bid online for their choices while watching live video of the sales ring, see www.arqana.com for more details. Previous horses to have passed through the sale include Villa Molitor, purchased for €12,000 and since a winner of two Listed races and a 3rd place in the Prix Penelope (Gr3), and also Kelty in Love, bought for €15,000 and now a 3 time winner including a Listed win and a 3rd place in the Gr3 Prix d’Arenberg. 515 yearlings are catalogued for this sale with a massive 97% of them eligible for French owners’ premiums. 86 yearlings are siblings to Listed or Group winners or placed horses including Stormy River, Shamandar and Belliflore. A wide variety of stallions’ progeny will be presented from established sires such as Dalakhani, Galileo, Dansili, Verglas and Cape Cross sire of this year’s champion Sea the Stars. Also represented are stallions that are having their first crop of yearlings this year such as Arc winner Hurricane Run, Librettist, winner of the Prix du Moulin, and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Holy Roman Emperor. On the National Hunt side the most attractive lot is most clearly Lot 49, a half brother to Kauto Star by Priolo. His dam, Kauto Relka died this year making this colt, named Kauto Grand Mogol, her penultimate foal.
